Willow Basket Weaving

$30.00

In this two day workshop, participants will learn to weave a round willow basket, approximately 6 inches in diameter. Each participant will go home with their own basket after picking the willow, creating a base, and weaving the walls and top.

This hands-on workshop will take place both outdoors and indoors, therefore please dress accordingly. Wear clothing you can get dirty and bring safety glasses OR sunglasses, work gloves, and shoes that can get wet. All willow weaving supplies are provided. All skill levels are welcome.

5 available seats; ages 18+

Kim Shaver has been weaving willow baskets for over 17 years. She learned her craft from her mother, who began weaving baskets from the willow on their family ranch in Wyoming over 50 years ago. Her work is inspired by natural landscapes of the west and the satisfaction of creating something that is both beautiful and practical, as well as ecologially sustainable.
