LPAC hosts Monthly Artist Meet Up
The first Tuesday of every month the Laramie Public Art Coalition hosts a monthly artist meet up. All artists and those interested in art are welcome. Come meet other local artists and art groups, learn about public art opportunities, give suggestions on future professional development workshops, geek out on possible projects, share ideas and projects you like, suggest future meeting topics, have fun with other creative types. Check our calendar page or facebook events as the date changes for some meet ups to accommodate workshop teachers.
February Meet-Up: Photography Workshop with Brian Harrington, Wednesday February 13th
Join Brian Harrington [BHP Imaging], a professional photographer for our February artist meet-up on Wednesday, Feb 13th, for a workshop on the process of lighting and photographing artwork. The principals Brian will share are useful for both 2D and 3D artists. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn from Brian. There is no need to have any photography experience or a fancy camera. The principals Brian will share will work on point and shoot, cell phone, or professional level cameras.
Please note: Due to same said photographer getting elected to City Council (whoop, whoop!) this meet up will not be on Tuesday night, but on Wednesday February 13th.
Please use the back alley entrance to The Durlacher, 203 S 2nd St, 6-8pm
Pizza donated by the Crowbar and Grille! Feel free to BYOB.
Also, NO Meet-Up in January.
Spray Paint Workshops
In the warmer months (May-Sept), check our calendar of FB events page for Spray Paint workshops led by local mural artist Dan Toro. Dan will go over techniques appropriate for the class- everything from what type of paint to buy and way, to practicing painting techniques. We do this on the free wall and provide paint, so everyone gets hands on experience.
Fabricators Tour in Denver
In April we got a tour of several public art fabricators in Denver. Denver is a hub of public art fabricators. These are companies that physically help artists make public art pieces. Artist don’t have to make everything the conceive and it is really helpful to know this and know who to team up with when you need help building something. The artists found it very helpful. If there is enough interest we will do this tour again in 2019. Email us if you are interested.
